TXMission Reaches Final of U.S. Army Tactical Radio Competition
May 25, 2021
TXMission has been announced as a finalist in the U.S. Army’s xTech Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Waveform Challenge. This incentivizes small businesses to propose innovative tactical radio technology focused on developing an open hardware architecture for Software Defined Radios (SDRs) that decouples software-based waveforms from the underlying hardware. This will accelerate integration of new tactical radio technology that fills crucial Army capability gaps in relation to various military platforms.
The goal is to create a non-proprietary SDR that supports multiple waveforms, frequency bands, bandwidths, and modes of operation to fulfil tactical, terrestrial communications requirements on the battlefield. An interoperable, platform-agnostic solution encourages innovation and economies of scale. Current Army tactical SDRs are based on proprietary hardware and software from a single vendor, which reduces innovation and increases the cost of enhancements and upgrades.
Competition winners will be announced in June 2021.
TXMission’s SDRs provide leading-edge waveforms and performance and have become firmly established in the small satellite and UAV markets.
